High Pressure Sodium Light Bulbs

High pressure sodium bulbs are a long-life, low maintenance and relatively inexpensive lighting option for outdoor fixtures. HPS lamps are used in a variety of outdoor settings including parking lot lighting, street lighting, construction sites and warehouses, and outdoor security. They're primarily used outdoors because they can produce a lot of light (many lumens) per watt but don't render colors very well. In other words, they don't cost a lot to produce the light needed for safety, but they shouldn't be used in color critical applications due to their low CRI and yellow light output.

Keep in mind that high pressure sodium lamps, like other HID bulbs, require ballasts, which you can find here.

Available in a variety of shapes and with either medium or mogul bases, most of our high pressure sodium bulbs have a rated life of 24,000 hours or more. This helps to minimize maintenance costs for bulbs that are typically located in places that are hard to reach. Our selection also includes HPS lamps ranging from just a few thousand lumens to those that produce more than 100,000 lumens.

If you're in the market for a high pressure sodium upgrade to LED lights, check out our selection of corn cob LEDs. Our pages suggest the wattage of HID lamp that the LEDs replace. Please note that they will not necessarily produce the same number of lumens, as LEDs are able to make better use of the lumens produced.
